Exxon Mobil Rewards+ (“EM Rewards+”, “we” or “us”), a rewards program operated by ExxonMobil Oil Corporation, is committed to respecting your privacy. We want you to know how we may collect, use, share, keep, and safeguard information about you and the choices that are available to you as it relates to that information. Note that certain terms used in this Privacy Policy are defined below in Section 5.

This Privacy Policy applies to EM Rewards+, its website and any interaction between you and EM Rewards+ through apps (such as the SpeedPass+ app) as well as your use or access of any EM Rewards+ online services or any content that links to this statement. It does not apply to those websites that have separate terms and conditions or online privacy statements, such as those of our Sponsors or other apps, websites or services offered by us or other members of the ExxonMobil Corporate Family.

EM Rewards+ is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly solicit data online from, or market online to, children under 13 years of age.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time, so we recommend that you check the current version available on a regular basis. If we make changes to this statement, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page so that you know changes have been made.

This Privacy Policy describes how we and other entities that are connected to EM Rewards+, such as our Sponsors and Service Providers, may collect, use, share, keep, and safeguard information that we get about you online. It also describes how we may combine types of information (such as Online Information and Other Information) and how we then use the combined information. We gather Online Information if you:

  • Visit or use our websites or web services;
  • Receive or reply to electronic communications from us;
  • View or click on our ads or other online content; and
  • Interact with us through social media websites and other websites and apps.

1. Collecting Information

We will collect registration information (for example: first, last name, address, phone number and email address) when you register for EM Rewards+. We may also ask for other demographic or personal information to personalize the program for you (e.g., your birthday)

The types of information we collect depends on which product or service you use.

Sometimes you give information directly to us, our Sponsors, or our Service Providers, for example, when you register. We may also collect information in other interactions between us, such as when you:

  • fill out an online form or survey;
  • log into or update the settings or preferences on your account online;
  • register or enroll in our services;
  • enter a contest, sweepstakes or register for a marketing offer;
  • buy something at Participating Locations; or
  • contact our call center.

We (and our Service Providers or Third-Party Ad-Servers) also collect information through Cookies. Most Cookies will only collect De-Identified Information such as how you arrive at our website or your general location, but, certain Cookies may collect Personal Information. For example, clicking “Remember Me” at log-in would result in a cookie storing your username. You can decide if and how your computer will accept Cookies by configuring preferences or options in your web browser. However, if you choose to reject cookies, you may not be able to use certain online products, services or features of the website. We may place Cookies when you visit our website or another company’s website where our ads appear or when you make purchases, request or personalize information, or register for certain services. If you accept the cookies used on our website or websites where our ads appear, you may give us access to information about your interests.

We (and our Service Providers or Third-Party Ad-Servers) may collect information using Cookies about:

  • the device you use to browse our websites or use our apps (for example, we may collect information about the operating system or the browser version and the type of device you use to open electronic communications from us);
  • the IP Address and information related to that IP Address (such as domain information, your internet provider and general geographic location);
  • browsing history on our websites or apps (such as what you search for, the pages you view, how long you stay, and how often you come back);
  • how you search for our websites or apps, from which website or app you came from, and which of our Sponsors’ websites you visit;
  • which ads or online content from us and our Sponsors you view, access, or click on;
  • whether you open our electronic communications and which parts you click on; and
  • the location of your mobile device or EM Rewards+ transactions.

We (and our Service Providers or Third-Party Ad-Servers) may also collect information made publicly available through third-party platforms (such as online social media platforms), through online databases or directories, or that is otherwise legitimately obtained. The collection of this information is subject to the applicable third party’s terms of use and/or privacy statement.

2. Using Information

We may use Online Information we collect about you on its own or combine it with Other Information to:

  • deliver products and services, including to:
  • recognize you when you return to our websites;
  • complete transactions;
  • tell you about updates to your accounts, products and services;
  • update you about new features, offers and benefits;
  • answer questions and respond to your requests made through our websites, call center, or apps and through third-party websites (including social media);
  • use the location of your mobile device or EM Rewards+ transactions;
  • determine how to best provide services to you and manage your accounts,
  • improve our websites or apps and make them easier to use;
  • advertise and market our products and services – and those of our Sponsors – including to:
  • present content that is tailored to your interests, including Targeted Advertising;
  • send or provide you with ads, promotions, and offers from us or our Sponsors;
  • analyze whether the ads, promotions, and offers are effective;
  • help us determine whether you may be interested in new products or services from us or our Sponsors;
  • conduct research and analysis, including to better understand our customers and our website or app users;
  • allow you to give feedback by rating and reviewing our products and services and those of our Sponsors;
  • produce data analytics, statistical research, and reports; and
  • review and change our products and services;
  • manage fraud and security risk, including to detect and prevent fraud or criminal activity;
  • safeguard the security of your information; and use it in other ways as required or permitted by law or with your consent.

3. Sharing Information

Some Online Information is Personal Information.

We will only share Personal Information as described below:

  • with our Sponsors for marketing purposes (if you do not want us to share your Personal Information, after you have enrolled please visit my profile page at and “opt out” of sharing);
  • with regulatory authorities, courts, and governmental agencies to comply with legal orders, legal or regulatory requirements, and government requests;
  • with our Service Providers, Sponsors, regulatory authorities, and governmental agencies to detect and prevent fraud or criminal activity, and to protect the rights of EM Rewards+ or others;
  • with ExxonMobil Corporate Family;
  • with our Service Providers, including those who perform services for us and help us operate EM Rewards+ and our business (we require Service Providers to safeguard Personal Information and only use your Personal Information for the purposes we specify);
  • in the context of a sale of all or part of the ExxonMobil Corporate Family or their assets; or
  • for specific uses, products or services, when you have given your consent.

You consent, acknowledge, and agree that we can transfer Personal Information to Service Providers or companies within the ExxonMobil Corporate Family throughout the world, for example, to process transactions and provide you with our products or services. Other countries may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. However, regardless of where we process your information, we will still protect it in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.

We prohibit our Sponsors from sharing information with other third parties / companies outside of EM Rewards+ or those unaffiliated with Exxon Mobil Corporation.

If you do not agree to sharing your Online Information as described above, your only recourse is to cancel your EM Rewards+ account. You may cancel your account at any time on or by calling 1-888-739-2730 during operational hours.

Aggregated Information or De-identified Information does not directly identify you individually; it helps us to analyze patterns among groups of people. We may share Aggregated Information or De-identified Information in several ways, for example:

  • for the same reasons as we might share Personal Information;
  • with Sponsors to help develop and market products or services and present targeted content, including Targeted Advertising;
  • with Sponsors to conduct analysis and research about customers, website and app users; or
  • with Third-Party Ad-Servers to place ads (including ads of our Sponsors) on various websites and apps, and to analyze the effectiveness of those ads;
  • with unaffiliated third parties (in exchange for compensation) for the same reasons we might share Personal Information, as well as to fund or validate consumer discounts, to help develop and market products or services and present targeted content including Targeted Advertising, conduct analysis and research about customers, website and app users, to place ads on various websites and apps, and to analyze the effectiveness of those ads including.

4. Keeping and Safeguarding Information

We have adopted security procedures to help protect against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access to the information you provide to us. Please note that no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your information and privacy, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you disclose or transmit. We take reasonable steps to securely destroy or permanently de-identify Personal Information when we no longer need it.

We will keep your Online Information only as long as required to deliver our products and services, unless we are required by law or regulation or for litigation or regulatory reasons to keep it.

You will always have a right to access, update, and change or correct your Personal Information.

You also have the choice about whether we market to you. You make this choice during your enrollment of EM Rewards+ and have the ability to change your selection on your account at to opt out of marketing communication online.

You can choose whether you would like to receive marketing communications, including direct marketing. If you choose to not receive marketing communications from us, we will honor your choice. Please be aware that if you choose not to receive such communications, certain offers attached to the products or services you have chosen may be affected. We will still communicate with you regarding servicing your account, fulfilling your requests, or administering any promotion or any program in which you have elected to participate.

Please note that the choices you make with EM Rewards+ only apply to EM Rewards+ and do not affect choices that you may have made directly with our Sponsors or in connection with other websites or apps offered by the ExxonMobil Corporate Family (such as SpeedPass+).

5. Defined Terms

Aggregated Information - data or information relating to multiple people which has been combined. Aggregated Information includes information that we create or compile from various sources, such as from transactions or certain data from Cookies.

ExxonMobil Corporate Family - any affiliate and subsidiary of, and any company owned or controlled by, Exxon Mobil Corporation.

Cookies - a cookie is a small data file that a website stores on your computer's hard drive. Similar technologies such as web beacons, pixels, gifs, and tags also do the same thing. We use the term Cookies in this Privacy Policy to refer to all technologies that collect information in this way.

De-identified Information - data or information, including pseudonomized data, that does not directly identify you to a third party. It includes information that we may collect from various sources, such as transactions or data from Cookies.

IP Address - a number assigned to a device when connecting to the Internet.

Online Information - data or information collected on the EM Rewards+ websites as well as on websites and apps of third parties relating to topics about our business which may include Personal Information, Aggregated Information and De-Identified Information.

Other Information - EM Rewards+ internal information (for example, transaction data), and other online and offline information we collect from or about you.

Participating Locations - participating Exxon and Mobil branded service stations operated by ExxonMobil branded wholesalers and locations of other Sponsors who may become a part of EM Rewards+.

Personal Information - Information that can identify a natural person, such as name, address, telephone number, and email address.

Service Providers - any vendor, third party and/or company that performs business operations on our behalf, such as in connection with EM Rewards+, information technology support, printing, mailing, and other communications services, marketing, data processing, servicing, collections, or ad management.

Sponsors - ExxonMobil branded wholesalers and retail companies, including site operators, with whom we conduct business. These Sponsors may become a part of EM Rewards+. These Sponsors may not have a direct contractual relationship with ExxonMobil.

Targeted Advertising - ads we or our Sponsors display on websites outside the ExxonMobil Corporate Family based on the preferences or interests inferred from data collected from a particular computer or device regarding web viewing behaviors over time and across different websites.

Third-Party Ad-Servers - companies that provide the technology to place ads on websites (and apps) and track how ads perform. These companies may also place and access cookies on your device. The information they collect from our websites is in a form that does not identify you personally.


Speedpass+™ App: Privacy Policy

Exxon Mobil Corporation and its affiliated companies, ("ExxonMobil") appreciate your interest in this Web site and other related or linked ExxonMobil sites or Apps (“Site”). Your privacy is important and we want you to understand our practices with respect to gathering information from visitors to the Site and with respect to the uses we make of that information. Please check each portion or page of the Site that you visit. Certain portions or pages of the Site may contain changes to the Privacy Policy applicable to your use of that portion or page, for example, certain applications may request additional information from you.

Information Placed on Your Computer

We may store some information (commonly known as a "cookie") on your computer when you look at or use the Site. This information facilitates customizing your use of the Site and helps to avoid the need for you to re-enter your details every time you visit it. However, if you choose to reject cookies, you may not be able to use certain online products, services or features on the Services.

We use third-party advertising technology to provide ads when you visit sites upon which we advertise. This technology will not process any information that can be used to personally identify you, that is it will not include your name, address, or other personal information. Sharing Information with Third Parties

We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include fulfilling orders, deliveries, sending postal mail and e-mail, removing repetitive information from customer lists, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, processing credit card payments and providing customer service. They have access to Personal Information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.

Your Choices

You have a number of choices about how we handle information we collect or receive about you.

Email. You may opt out of receiving future promotional email communications from us by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in the footer of promotional email communications and updating your preferences. Please note that we may continue to send you transactional or service-related emails regarding your account.

SMS and MMS. You may opt out of receiving promotional SMS and MMS messages (i.e., text messages) from us by replying “STOP” to any message, which is free of charge. Please note that we may respond to your opt-out request with a message confirming that you have successfully opted out.

Data Transfers

Personal data collected by ExxonMobil may be transferred among its various divisions and affiliated companies in other countries. Those countries may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information. When we transfer your information to other countries, we will protect that information as described in this Privacy Policy. Because of differences in how web browsers incorporate and activate this feature, it is not always clear whether users intend for these signals to be transmitted, or whether they even are aware of them. Because there currently is no industry standard concerning what, if anything, websites should do when they receive such signals, ExxonMobil currently does not take action in response to these signals. If and when a final standard is established and accepted, we will reassess how to respond to these signals.

Conditions of Use, Notices and Revisions

Speedpass Consumer Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to you. We at Speedpass work to provide you transaction simplicity, speed and convenience at participating retailers. As soon as you enroll in the consumer Speedpass™ program, we consider you a valued Speedpass Member. For all of our consumer Members, (i.e., Members who have linked their Speedpass to a credit or check card that is used only for personal, family, or household purposes) we make the same promise. We will safeguard the privacy of the non-public personal information you provide us at enrollment and afterwards. The personal information we collect about you comes from the following sources: Information we receive from you on applications or other forms, such as your name, address and telephone number; information about your transactions with us; and with Speedpass Authorized Retailers such as transaction dates, locations, and amounts.

Our privacy policy is straightforward:

Speedpass and its affiliates may disclose any of the information that we collect to affiliates and nonaffiliated third parties as described below. We may disclose the information whether you are a current customer or former customer:

  • Affiliates. Our affiliates are the family of companies controlled by Exxon Mobil Corporation. Our affiliates are engaged in non-financial services such as oil and gas, chemicals, and travel related services.
  • Speedpass Authorized Retailers. Speedpass Authorized Retailers, other third parties who market their products or services in conjunction with Speedpass, and the Financial Institution whose products or accounts you have linked to the Speedpass Device you were issued. Speedpass Authorized Retailers and Financial Institutions must have certain financial information to process your Speedpass transactions and to conduct business operations with Speedpass.
    They, and other third parties, may also offer you special programs as a benefit of Speedpass Membership. Speedpass may share your non-public personal information as needed for you to take advantage of these programs and so that these persons and entities may communicate with you directly about such programs. You may elect to participate in certain loyalty programs or promotions with Speedpass Authorized Retailers or Marketing Partners that by their very nature require the sharing of your personal information. Consequently, if you request Speedpass to facilitate your enrollment in a marketing or loyalty program of a Speedpass Authorized Retailer, your request constitutes express consent for Speedpass to share your personal information with such retailer as needed to perform that service.
  • Consumer reporting agencies. We may disclose the information that we collect relating to our transactions or experiences with you to consumer reporting agencies and similar organizations.
  • Nonaffiliated Third Parties. Nonaffiliated third parties such as: Financial service providers such as companies engaged in banking, mortgage banking, credit cards, consumer finance, securities, and insurance. Non-financial companies such as retailers, service providers, membership clubs, publishers, companies engaged in direct marketing and the selling of consumer products and services, and other companies and organizations such as non-profit organizations, any bidder for all or part of the Speedpass business, or to protect you and other Speedpass users from fraud.
  • Companies that provide Speedpass important services Speedpass obligates its service and marketing providers to keep your financial and personal information confidential.
  • Law Enforcement, Judicial Authorities, and Others Speedpass will share your non- public personal information as needed with appropriate law enforcement officials to investigate theft, fraud and other suspicious activity involving your Speedpass account.

Speedpass may share your non-public personal information with other third parties as otherwise required or as permitted by law.

Speedpass Uses Your Non-Public Personal Information to Process Transactions, To Serve You Better, To Keep You Informed, and To Manage Our Business.

No financial or personal information is stored on your Speedpass Device. Instead, Speedpass protects your information in a confidential and secure database, and maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to help safeguard your non-public personal information. Speedpass uses your non-public personal information to process your transactions, to enhance the Speedpass payment experience with more efficient operations, product and service offerings, and to inform you directly about the Speedpass Program. As a Speedpass Member you will receive communications from us, such as information about Speedpass features, Speedpass Authorized Retailers and locations, and special promotions and loyalty rewards.

You Control What Non-Public Personal Information Retailers, Marketing Partners and Financial Institutions Receive for Marketing Purposes As one of your Membership benefits, Speedpass Authorized Retailers you patronize, our Marketing Partners, and the Financial Institutions whose products or accounts you have linked to your Speedpass Device may have special programs or promotions that can be earned or enjoyed by using Speedpass. Speedpass may share some of your non-public personal information so that you may take advantage of these programs. Speedpass requires Speedpass Authorized Retailers, Marketing Partners, and Financial Institutions to keep your non-public personal information confidential and secure. However, if you prefer that we do not disclose non-public personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties, you may opt out, that is you may direct us not to share this information by informing us either by:

Once you have indicated your preference to opt out, you don’t need to reconfirm your opt out preference annually. Of course, you may notify Speedpass in the same methods noted above to change your preference at any time. If you are an existing Member who opts out, please understand that you may receive marketing offers directly from third parties that were already in production prior to receipt of your opt out notice. Please note that these third parties may maintain their own customer databases and may obtain your non-public personal information independently of Speedpass.

Speedpass Service Providers Keep Your Non-Public Personal Information Confidential and Secure.

Our marketing and service providers are under contract to perform specific services for Speedpass, including customer service, order fulfillment, transaction processing, fraud and risk management, marketing services, data processing and analysis. We require them to keep your non-public personal information confidential and secure, and we impose restrictions on their use of your non-public personal information for only the purposes for which it was shared.

Why It's Important to Keep Your Personal Information Current

We may modify the Speedpass Program and this Privacy Policy at any time, and we will notify you of all material changes to it.

If You Have a Vermont Address, Please Note

Vermont law requires that we must initially assume you have opted out. This means that you will not receive marketing and promotional program benefits from third parties that require Speedpass to share your non-public personal information with them, such as (without limitation) the Financial Institution whose products or accounts you have linked to your Speedpass Device or with a Speedpass Authorized Retailer. In particular, you may be ineligible to participate in various promotions or qualify for other valuable incentives from these parties in conjunction with your Speedpass usage. If You Have a California Address, Please Note

Speedpass has pursued a course of compliance with California law that requires us to assume that you have opted out. You will not be able to opt in. Accordingly, Speedpass will not share your non-public personal information with any non-affiliated third party marketers for marketing purposes. However, Speedpass, individually, or jointly with our Marketing Partners and/or Speedpass Authorized Retailers, may continue to send you marketing and promotional materials.


“Device“ means that contactless identification instrument used by Speedpass to facilitate point of sale payments or identification.

“Financial Institution“ or "Financial Institutions" means the following: institutions holding the checking account you have linked to a Speedpass Device, and/or credit or check card issuers (and the associations with which they are affiliated, e.g., MasterCard International) whose credit card or check card you have linked to a Speedpass Device.

"Marketing Partners" means a non-affiliated party that is not part of the family of companies controlled by Exxon Mobil Corporation. Without limiting the generality of the definition, Marketing Partners include service providers that assist in servicing accounts such as maintaining database information, authorizing transactions, preparing promotional materials, responding to customer inquiries, and marketing firms such as modeling companies that assist in Speedpass' marketing efforts. Marketing Partners also include merchants and service providers that are authorized to accept Speedpass as a method of payment, and any outside companies selected by Speedpass to develop special offers for Speedpass customers.

“Speedpass“ without italics means ExxonMobil Speedpass, a venture of Exxon Mobil Corporation.

“Speedpass“ with italics means the point of sale payment and/or identification system incorporating contactless identification technology developed or provided by ExxonMobil Speedpass.

“Speedpass Authorized Retailer“ means a retail establishment authorized by Speedpass to use the Speedpass system for customer identification and/or point of sale transactions.
