How do I use the Speedpass+ app?

It’s easy. Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select “Pay for Fuel” and find your pump number. Select the one that corresponds to your pump, and authorize the transaction.

What types of phones run the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app is available on the App Store for iOS 8 and 9 and on Google Play for phones running Android™ OS 4.0 – 6.0.

How does the Speedpass+ app know my location?

ExxonMobil takes privacy very seriously, so your location will never be used without your permission. The Speedpass+ app obtains your location from your mobile phone through its geo-location feature. Please ensure this feature is turned on for the Speedpass+ app. If your location based services are turned on, the Speedpass+ app will be able to use it to identify which station you are at. If your location based services are turned off, or there is interference, you will be directed to scan the QR code.

What if the app doesn’t recognize my location?

The Speedpass+ app will direct you to scan the QR code on the pump and register it that way.

How do I scan the QR code?

When you are directed to "scan QR code," your phone's camera will open automatically in the Speedpass+ app. Hold your phone two inches away from the pump, and center the QR code (looks like a pixilated square) on your screen. The app will scan the code once it’s in view.

How do I select my grade of fuel?

Select as you normally would at the pump.

Where is my receipt?

In “My Account,” you can select how you’d like to receive your receipt. You can choose to receive receipts through email, at the pump or both. Whichever option you choose, a history of your transactions is available in the “History” section. Historical receipts can be viewed and forwarded via email.

Can I access the Speedpass+ app with my phone number like other ExxonMobil loyalty programs?

No. The Speedpass+ app does not use your phone number.

What is the station survey?

The Station Survey will appear on the home screen after a transaction. This is an opportunity for you to provide feedback about your station experience. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

How are the Speedpass key tag and the Speedpass+ app different?

The Speedpass+ app is the exclusive ExxonMobil app that lets you pay for gas using your smartphone. A Speedpass key tag is a “touchless” payment device that links to your existing credit or debit card. Learn more about the Speedpass key tag.

Can I transfer my Speedpass key tag account information onto my Speedpass+ app account?

Your Speedpass account information cannot transfer to or be shared with your Speedpass+ account. Please set up your username and password separately for your Speedpass+ app. Your Speedpass key tag credentials are unique to the key tag.

What forms of payment will the Speedpass+ app accept?

The Speedpass+ app accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, ExxonMobil Personal Cards, checking account, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.

How do I add my credit card or debit card to my Speedpass+ account?

Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select "My Account," then "Payment Methods" for Apple® devices and “Wallet” for Android™ devices followed by "Add Payment.”

Can I apply for the ExxonMobil Smart Card through the Speedpass+ app?

You can now apply for an ExxonMobil Smart Card through the Speedpass+ app when you’re at the pump or at home. During the application process, you will be directed to Citibank, the issuer of the card. Citibank uses one of the most secure encryption technologies available today. Once approved* after a short wait, you can start paying with the ExxonMobil Smart Card in the app right away. Apply now and start saving on your next fill up!

Why do I have to leave the Speedpass+ app to apply for the ExxonMobil Smart Card?

Citibank is the issuer of the ExxonMobil Smart Card and the credit card application resides within Citi’s website. Citibank uses one of the most secure encryption technologies available today.

I had an issue while applying for the ExxonMobil Smart Card. Who do I contact?

How do I add my Apple Pay information to my Speedpass+ account?

If you have Apple Pay set up on your compatible devices, simply download the Speedpass+ app and create an account. Your Apple Pay information is automatically added to your account. If Apple Pay is not set up on your compatible devices, you can set it up in the Speedpass+ app under “My Account.” Choose “Payment Methods” then “Add Payment” followed by “Set up Apple Pay.”

How do I pay for fuel using Apple Pay?

First, select “Pay for Fuel” and select your pump number. After selecting “Authorize Pump,” place your finger on Touch ID®. You do not have to tap your phone to the pump to make a purchase.

What credit cards are supported by Apple Pay within the Speedpass+ app?

At this time, the Speedpass+ app supports Visa, American Express and MasterCard when using Apple Pay as your payment method.

What should I do if I need help adding a credit or debit card to Apple Pay?

Your bank and AppleCare are ready to help you with issues when adding credit or debit cards to your device. You can contact your bank or AppleCare, who will help you resolve your issue.

Does Apple Wallet show my recent transactions?

When you view your card in Apple Wallet, you’ll see the last transaction for each credit card or debit card. You might also see the last 10 transactions for your cards. Just tap the card and tap the i. Depending on your bank, you might see only transactions made from your device. Or you might see all transactions made from your credit or debit card amount, including all Apple Pay devices and your actual card.

Why is my transaction amount sometimes reported differently in Apple Wallet?

Some banks provide only initial authorization amounts to Wallet, which might be different from the final transaction amount. Depending on your bank, you might see different transaction amounts from locations such as restaurants, gas service stations, hotels, and car rental companies. Always refer to the credit or debit card statement from your bank for final transaction details.

Can I use Apple Pay or Samsung Pay to purchase items inside the convenience store?

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available.

Which mobile devices are compatible for Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay is compatible with Samsung devices including the Note 5, Galaxy S6 and newer (excluding the Note 7).

For Samsung devices, how do I pay for fuel using Samsung Pay?

First, select “Pay for Fuel” and select your pump number. After selecting “Authorize Pump,” place your finger on the fingerprint scanner or enter your 4-digit passcode if your device is not fingerprint scan enabled. You do not have to tap your phone to the pump to make a purchase.

What credit cards are supported by Samsung Pay within the Speedpass+ app?

At this time, the Speedpass+ app supports Visa, American Express, and MasterCard when using Samsung Pay as your payment method. Gift cards are not supported.

What should I do if I need help adding a credit or debit card to Samsung Pay?

Contact your bank or Samsung Pay Support who will help you resolve your issues when adding credit or debit cards to Samsung Pay.

Does Samsung Pay show my recent transactions?

The last 20 transactions (some cards might only show 10) made with Samsung Pay are viewable in the Samsung Pay app for one month from the time of purchase. Simply tap on a registered card in the app to see all the Samsung Pay transactions made with that card.

Can I use Apple Pay or Samsung Pay to purchase items inside the convenience store?

What is ACH?

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. ACH provides you with the opportunity to link your checking account as a form of payment.

How do I enroll my checking account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select "My Account," then "Payment Methods" for Apple® devices and “Wallet” for Android™ devices followed by "Add Payment." Enter your first and last name, address, state, zip code, phone number, email address, driver's license number, checking account number, and bank account number.

What information do I need to provide to enroll my checking account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

You will need to provide your first and last name, address, state, zip code, phone number, email address, driver's license number, checking account number, and bank account number.

Can a joint checking account be enrolled for more than one Speedpass+ account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

Yes, a joint checking account can be enrolled more than once. For example, a husband and wife can each enroll their shared bank account for payment within the Speedpass+ app for their respective Speedpass+ accounts.

Can I enroll my savings account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) to link payment to my checking account within the Speedpass+ app?

No. You may only have your personal checking account enrolled for payment within the Speedpass+ app.

Are there any fees for utilizing a checking account with the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app does not charge any fees for using ACH for payment within the Speedpass+ app. Please check if your financial institution charges a fee for using ACH as a form of payment. Please review the Speedpass+ Terms and Conditions for information regarding fees related to returns due to insufficient funds.

When using my bank account for payment within the Speedpass+ app, is there a hold on funds placed on my account?

Similar to writing a check, there is no hold on funds placed on your account when attempting an ACH transaction with your enrolled bank account within the Speedpass+ app. The entire amount of the transaction will be charged to your checking account when the transaction is presented to your bank for payment.

How do I authenticate my checking account after I have submitted my account information?

Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select "My Account", “Payment Methods” for Apple® devices and “Wallet” for Android™ devices select your ACH account and click on the "Tap to Verify" shown under your checking account information. After clicking the link, enter the sum of the small deposits and the last four digits of the enrolled checking account.

After I have submitted my account information, how quickly will I receive the two small deposits needed for bank account authentication?

The small deposits could take up to 2-3 business days to be posted to your checking account.

How secure is linking my checking account to the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app has the same security standards as any bank, so your data is kept private and secure. The initial setup process also has built-in customer authentication steps to confirm the validity of the customer and bank account.

Can I get cash back with the Speedpass+ app?

Cash back is not available through the Speedpass+ app.

Who do I contact regarding general questions related to using my bank account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

Can I add my Plenti card to my Speedpass+ app?

Yes, simply launch the Speedpass+ app, select “My Plenti” followed by “Add a Plenti card,” and then enter your Plenti card information.

How do I get a Plenti card if I do not already have one?

You can get a Plenti card via the Speedpass+ app by selecting “My Plenti” followed by “Get a Plenti card.” You will then enter your information, review and submit your profile. Please make sure you press ‘Continue’ on the third screen to return to the Speedpass+ app and to view your new digital Plenti card.

When should I expect to receive a Plenti card in the mail if I signed up for a card through the Speedpass+ app?

A new card should arrive in the mail within 10-14 business days.

Why does the Speedpass+ app instruct me to “Take action to earn Plenti points?”

The Speedpass+ app detected that your Plenti card has been cancelled. Please delete the cancelled card from the app then add or get a new card to start earning Plenti points on your Speedpass+ app transactions.

Why does the Speedpass+ app instruct me to “Take action to use Plenti points?”

You added your Plenti card to the Speedpass+ app, but additional action is required. Please go to the “My Plenti” section of the app and review the provided instructions.

Why does the Speedpass+ app instruct me to “Finish signup to use Plenti points?”

Please finish signup through the “My Plenti” section to ensure that you are able to use Plenti points for savings on your eligible fuel and car wash transactions using the Speedpass+ app.

My Plenti card is blocked within the Speedpass+ app, what should I do?

For your protection, your Plenti card has been temporarily blocked. At this time, you will not be able to use Plenti points for savings. Please call Plenti customer care at 1-855-PLENTI1 (1-855-753-6841) to resolve the issue.

How do I earn Plenti points on my Speedpass+ app purchases?

After you have created a Speedpass+ account and added a Plenti card, earning points on your fuel and car wash purchases is easy. At the station, launch the Speedpass+ app and select “Pay for Fuel” to begin the transaction. You will automatically earn Plenti points on all fuel and car wash purchases made with the Speedpass+ app. After completing a transaction, your Plenti points balance will be updated to reflect your most recent transaction.

Can I earn Plenti points through my Speedpass+ app at all Exxon and Mobil stations?

After adding a Plenti card to the Speedpass+ app, you will be able to earn Plenti points on your fuel and car wash purchases at participating locations.  Please use the in-app station locator to find select stations near you that accept the Plenti rewards program and/or the Speedpass+ app.

How do I use Plenti points for savings on my Speedpass+ app purchases?

This feature is rolling out to participating Exxon and Mobil stations in the coming months. You will soon be able to use Plenti points for savings through your Speedpass+ app. We thank you for your continued patience while we upgrade our sites.

In the meantime, at select stations you can use Plenti points for savings by swiping your Plenti card or entering your phone number at the pump before completing your transaction with your Speedpass+ app. Please note, this is a temporary functionality. 

How do I see the Plenti points I earned at Exxon and Mobil stations using the Speedpass+ app?

The number of Plenti points earned on each Speedpass+ app transaction should appear on your digital or printed receipt. You can also find a summary of the points earned in the “History” section of the app.  

 How long does it take for me to see the Plenti points I earned on my Speedpass+ transactions?

Your Plenti points balance will be updated in the Speedpass+ app up to 48 hours after a transaction.  If you activated a Plenti offer prior to completing a transaction with the Speedpass+ app, these points may take a few additional days to post.

I don’t see the Plenti points I earned in the “My Plenti” section of the Speedpass+ app? What should I do?

First, refresh the “Available Points” balance in the “My Plenti” section of the Speedpass+ app. If you do not see points earned check plenti.com and ensure you have allowed enough time for the points to post. If Plenti points are still missing, contact the Plenti customer care at 1-855-Plenti1 (1-855-753-6841). Make sure you have your Plenti card handy. You can also view your Plenti activity on plenti.com or the Plenti mobile app.

Can I link one Plenti card to multiple Speedpass+ accounts?

No, each Plenti card can be linked to one Speedpass+ account.

Can I add multiple Plenti cards to one Speedpass+ account?

No, you can only add one Plenti card to a single Speedpass+ account.

Can I activate a Plenti offer with the Speedpass+ app?

Activate Plenti offers by going to the Plenti app or visit plenti.com. Be sure to activate an offer before completing a transaction with the Speedpass+ app.

If I activate a Plenti offer from Exxon and Mobil within the Plenti app, will these points apply to my Speedpass+ transactions?

Yes, activated Plenti offers from Exxon and Mobil will apply to your Speedpass+ transactions. Please note, these points may take up to 30 days to display in your Plenti points balance and may not appear on the Speedpass+ receipt.

How do I set up the Apple Watch with the Speedpass+ app?

Ensure that you have the Speedpass+ app on your Apple Watch. On your phone, you must have a valid Speedpass+ account with a valid method of payment. For optimal performance, we recommend you use the latest Apple Watch OS.

What if I am having performance delays using the Apple Watch with the Speedpass+ app?

The Apple Watch with the Speedpass+ app works best with the latest Apple Watch OS. Please update your Apple Watch OS to help reduce performance delays.

How can I pay for fuel using the Apple Watch with the Speedpass+ app?

Once you have arrived and parked at the station, open the Speedpass+ app on your Apple Watch and click “Pay for Fuel”.

Do I need to have my phone with me to pay for fuel using the Apple Watch with the Speedpass+ app?

You must have your phone that has a Speedpass+ app account in order to pay for fuel using the Speedpass+ app with your Apple Watch.

Can I change my method of payment from the Speedpass+ watch app?

When using the Apple Watch to pay for fuel, you’ll only be able to use your default payment method.

Can I use my Speedpass+ watch app with the Plenti rewards program?

If you have a Plenti card added to your Speedpass+ app account, you will earn Plenti points automatically using your Apple Watch. In the future, you will also be able to redeem points.



Which cars are compatible with the Speedpass+ app and Ford SYNC3 platform?

The Speedpass+ app is currently compatible and can be synced to 2017 or 2016 Ford vehicles with SYNC3 version 2.0. This allows for the Speedpass+ app to be mirrored to the in-car display within the vehicle. SYNC3 supports the use of touch and voice commands to control the Speedpass+ app on your head unit. The “Find Stations” functionality will only work on vehicles equipped with map navigation.

How do I know if my car is compatible?

In your vehicle, go to Settings > General > About/About Sync to check your version and build number. The Speedpass+ app is compatible with Ford SYNC3 version 2.0 and newer.

How does the Speedpass+ Connected Car platform work?

This platform allows you to use your vehicle’s in-car display as an extension of your Speedpass+ mobile app. You can use the car’s interface (voice commands or push-button commands) to find Exxon and Mobil stations near you, and pay for fuel at Speedpass+ enabled stations. Additionally, by pairing the Speedpass+ app to the Ford SYNC3 platform, you can check your car’s fuel level (when outside your car) and customize how/when low-fuel alerts are sent to you.

How do I set my alerts?

To set alerts in the app, go to My Account > Settings > Low Fuel Alert Preferences. Once you’ve enabled “Low Fuel Alerts”, you can customize the “Minimum Fuel Level”, “Alert Time” and the “Number of Alerts”.

I received a low-fuel reminder on my in-car display. What does the “Later” option do?

Fuel reminders will be pushed to your phone if you select the “Later” option on the in-car Low Fuel notification.

What is Synergy Fuel?

Exxon and Mobil Synergy™ gasoline, engineered with 7 key ingredients, can help you get better gas mileage or improved engine performance for your vehicle.**

**Fuel economy improvement is based on Synergy-branded gasoline compared to gasoline meeting minimum U.S. government standards. Actual benefits will vary based on factors such as vehicle type, driving style and gasoline previously used.

Where does the fuel recommendation come from?

Fuel recommendation is based on the vehicle data you have entered (or synced to your Ford SYNC3 vehicle) and data provided by Edmunds.com. This data is then mapped to ExxonMobil’s Synergy fuel classifications. www.exxon.com/our-fuels.

How do I pair the Speedpass+ app with the Ford SYNC3 platform?

Connect either your Apple iPhone (USB connection) or Android phone (Bluetooth) to the vehicle. Disable Android Auto or CarPlay. From the SYNC3 menu, go to Apps > Speedpass+ app > Enable mobile apps. It may also prompt you to give the platform permissions to access and share car information to the Speedpass+ app to complete the pairing process.

Does the Speedpass+ app work with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?

The Speedpass+ app is not currently compatible with the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay platforms.

Can I redeem Plenti points using the Speedpass+ app and Ford SYNC3 head-end unit?

No. You can earn but not redeem Plenti points using the Speedpass+ app while synced with the SYNC3 platform. If you disconnect your phone from the vehicle, you can use the Speedpass+ app to redeem Plenti points.

How does payment work with Ford SYNC3?

Your app will use your default payment method when using the “Pay for Fuel” function.

How do I get my receipt when using the Speedpass+ app and Ford SYNC3 to pay for fuel?

You will receive your receipt based on your receipt settings in the Speedpass+ app. To change your receipt settings, go to “My Account” in the app.

What happens if my phone is lost or stolen?

We sure hope you don’t lose your phone. But just in case, you can add a passcode to the Speedpass+ app as an extra layer of security.

How is my credit card information stored on the Speedpass+ app?

All information is stored in a secure environment.

Is it safe to use my cell phone at a gas pump?

Independent research shows that smartphone technology can be used safely for pump payment. This, of course, requires safe behavior to avoid distraction.

Never use your cell phone when driving, or talk to others when they are driving. Please use your phone responsibly.

Make sure your car is parked safely and shut off before using your phone.

Don't use your phone when walking across the station. There are cars and people moving here, and we don’t want you to run into either.

Remain alert and aware of your surroundings. This can prevent all kinds of mishaps, whether you're using your phone here, or somewhere else.

Don't use your phone while standing in the vehicle lane. It’s for vehicles, and we want you to be safe.
