What is the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app lets you pay for gas and car washes using your smart phone exclusively at Exxon- and Mobil- branded stations. It's fast, convenient, and secure.


Simply follow these steps:
  • Download the Speedpass+ app from the App Store® or Google PlayTM store
  • Link your preferred method of payment- you can use any major credit card, debit card, ExxonMobil Smart Card, checking account and now Apple Pay
  • Use the app to find participating Exxon– and Mobil–branded stations 
  • Fuel up and go 

FAQ's about the Speedpass+ app

How do I use the Speedpass+ app?

It’s easy. Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select “Pay for Fuel” and find your pump number. Select the one that corresponds to your pump, and authorize the transaction.

How does the Speedpass+ app know my location?

ExxonMobil takes privacy very seriously, so your location will never be used without your permission. The Speedpass+ app obtains your location from your mobile phone through its geo-location feature. Please ensure this feature is turned on for the Speedpass+ app. If your location based services are turned on, the Speedpass+ app will be able to use it to identify which station you are at. If your location based services are turned off, or there is interference, you will be directed to scan the QR code.

What if the app doesn’t recognize my location?

The Speedpass+ app will direct you to scan the QR code on the pump and register it that way.

How do I scan the QR code?

When you are directed to "scan QR code," your phone's camera will open automatically in the Speedpass+ app. Hold your phone two inches away from the pump, and center the QR code (looks like a pixilated square) on your screen. The app will scan the code once it’s in view.

How do I select my grade of fuel?

Select as you normally would at the pump.

Where is my receipt?

In “My Account,” you can select how you’d like to receive your receipt. You can choose to receive receipts through email, at the pump or both. Whichever option you choose, a history of your transactions is available in the “History” section. Historical receipts can be viewed and forwarded via email.

Can I access the Speedpass+ app with my phone number like other ExxonMobil loyalty programs?

No. The Speedpass+ app does not use your phone number.

What is the Station Survey?

The Station Survey will appear on the home screen after a transaction. This is an opportunity for you to provide feedback about your station experience. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

How are the Speedpasskey tag and Speedpass+ app different?

The Speedpass+ app is the exclusive ExxonMobil app that lets you pay for gas using your smartphone. A Speedpass key tag is a “touchless” payment device that links to your existing credit or debit card. Learn more about the Speedpass key tag.

Can I transfer Speedpass key tag account information onto my Speedpass+ app account?

Your Speedpass account information cannot transfer or be shared with your Speedpass+ account.

What types of phones run the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app is available on the App Store for iOS 8 and 9 and on Google Play for phones running Android™ OS 4.0 – 6.0.

What forms of payment will the Speedpass+ app accept?

The Speedpass+ app accepts all major credit cards, debits cards, ExxonMobil Personal Cards, ExxonMobil Smart Cards, checking account and Apple Pay.

How do I add my credit card or debit card to my Speedpass+ account?

Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select "My Account," then "Payment Methods" for Apple® devices and “Wallet” for Android™ devices followed by "Add Payment."

How do I apply for an ExxonMobil Consumer Credit Card to link to the Speedpass+ app?

How do I add my Apple Pay information to my Speedpass+ account?

If you have Apple Pay set up on your compatible devices, simply download the Speedpass+ app and create an account.  Your Apple Pay information is automatically added to your account.

If Apple Pay is not set up on your compatible devices, you can set it up in the Speedpass+ app under “My Account.” Choose “Payment Methods” then “Add Payment” followed by “Set up Apple Pay.”

How do I pay for fuel using Apple Pay?

First, select “Pay for Fuel” and select your pump number. After selecting “Authorize Pump,” place your finger on Touch ID®. You do not have to tap your phone to the pump to make a purchase.

What credit cards are supported by Apple Pay within the Speedpass+ app?

At this time, the Speedpass+ app supports Visa, American Express and MasterCard when using Apple Pay as your payment method.

What should I do if I need help adding a credit or debit card to Apple Pay?

Your bank and AppleCare are ready to help you with issues when adding credit or debit cards to your device. You can contact your bank or AppleCare, who will help you resolve your issue. 

Does Apple Wallet show my recent transactions?

When you view your card in Apple Wallet, you’ll see the last transaction for each credit card or debit card. You might also see the last 10 transactions for your cards. Just tap the card and tap the i. Depending on your bank, you might see only transactions made from your device. Or you might see all transactions made from your credit or debit card amount, including all Apple Pay devices and your actual card.

Why is my transaction amount sometimes reported differently in Apple Wallet?

Some banks provide only initial authorization amounts to Wallet, which might be different from the final transaction amount. Depending on your bank, you might see different transaction amounts from locations such as restaurants, gas service stations, hotels, and car rental companies. Always refer to the credit or debit card statement from your bank for final transaction details.

Can I use Apple Pay to purchase items inside the convenience store?

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available.

What is ACH?

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. ACH provides you with the opportunity to link your checking account as a form of payment.

How do I enroll my checking account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select "My Account," then "Payment Methods" for Apple® devices and “Wallet” for Android™ devices followed by "Add Payment." Enter your first and last name, address, state, zip code, phone number, email address, driver's license number, checking account number, and bank account number.

What information do I need to provide to enroll my checking account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

You will need to provide your first and last name, address, state, zip code, phone number, email address, driver's license number, checking account number, and bank account number.

Are there any fees for utilizing a checking account with the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app does not charge any fees for using ACH for payment within the Speedpass+ app. Please check if your financial institution charges a fee for using ACH as a form of payment. Please review the Speedpass+ Terms and Conditions for information regarding fees related to returns due to insufficient funds.

Can a joint checking account be enrolled for more than one Speedpass+ account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment within the Speedpass+ app?

Yes, a joint checking account can be enrolled more than once. For example, a husband and wife can each enroll their shared bank account for payment within the Speedpass+ app for their respective Speedpass+ accounts.

When using my bank account for payment within the Speedpass+ app, is there a hold on funds placed on my account?

Similar to writing a check, there is no hold on funds placed on your account when attempting an ACH transaction with your enrolled bank account within the Speedpass+ app. The entire amount of the transaction will be charged to your checking account when the transaction is presented to your bank for payment.

How do I authenticate my checking account after I have submitted my account information?

Launch the Speedpass+ app. Select "My Account", “Payment Methods” for Apple® devices and “Wallet” for Android™ devices select your ACH account and click on the "Tap to Verify" shown under your checking account information. After clicking the link, enter the sum of the small deposits and the last four digits of the enrolled checking account.

After I have submitted my account information, how quickly will I receive the two small deposits needed for bank account authentication?

The small deposits could take up to 2-3 business days to be posted to your checking account.

How secure is linking my checking account to the Speedpass+ app?

The Speedpass+ app has the same security standards as any bank, so your data is kept private and secure. The initial setup process also has built-in customer authentication steps to confirm the validity of the customer and bank account.

Can I get cash back with the Speedpass+ app?

Cash back is not available through the Speedpass+ app.

Can I enroll my savings account for ACH (Automated Clearing House) to link payment to my checking account within the Speedpass+ app?

No. You may only have your personal checking account enrolled for payment within the Speedpass+ app.

What information should I have available when I contact TeleCheck customer service?

TeleCheck can access your account using one of the following enrolled identifiers: name, driver's license number, bank account information (routing and account number), email address or phone number.

Can I link my Speedpass+ app with Plenti?

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet available. However, you can use your Plenti card with your Speedpass+ app.

How do I use the Speedpass+ app with the Plenti Rewards Program?

At participating locations, you may earn Plenti points by swiping your Plenti card in the card reader before using your Speedpass+ app to pay.

How does the Speedpass+ app work with my Plenti card?

You will need to follow these steps to earn or redeem Plenti points using your Speedpass+ app:

1. Open the Speedpass+ app

2. Select "Pay for Fuel"

3. Select pump if geo-location is active or scan the QR code on the pump

4. If you receive a car wash prompt, select a car wash, or select “No Thanks”

5. Then begin the Plenti process at the pump by pressing the LOYALTY button and selecting Plenti or pushing “Yes” for Loyalty and following the screen prompts. If there is no LOYALTY button at the pump, please skip to Step 6.

6. Insert your Plenti rewards card into the card reader or enter your 16-digit Plenti number.

7. If you have Plenti points to redeem, the screen will prompt you to select “Yes or No” to redeem. To redeem points, select “Yes” and follow the screen prompts. If you do not wish to redeem points, select “No” and skip to step 8 to activate the pump.

8. To activate the pump and pay for your purchase, select “Authorize” in the Speedpass+ app and begin fueling.

The Speedpass+ app has the same security standards as required of banks, so your data is kept private and secure. The initial setup process also has built-in customer authentication steps to confirm the validity of the customer and payment method.

What happens if my phone is lost or stolen?

We sure hope you don’t lose your phone. But just in case, you can add a passcode to the Speedpass+ app as an extra layer of security.

How is my credit card information stored on the Speedpass+ app?

All information is stored in a secure environment.

Is it safe to use my cell phone at a gas pump?

Independent research shows that smartphone technology can be used safely for pump payment. This, of course, requires safe behavior to avoid distraction.


Never use your cell phone when driving, or talk to others when they are driving. Please use your phone responsibly.

Make sure your car is parked safely and shut off before using your phone.

Don't use your phone when walking across the station. There are cars and people moving here, and we don’t want you to run into either.

Remain alert and aware of your surroundings. This can prevent all kinds of mishaps, whether you're using your phone here, or somewhere else.

Don't use your phone while standing in the vehicle lane. It’s for vehicles, and we want you to be safe.
