Product Description
DISCONTINUED -- recommended replacements for Norva 2 is Mobiltemp 2 and for
Norva 1 Moly is Mobiltemp 1.
Norva 2 and Norva 1 Moly are
premium quality non soap-thickened greases specially designed to lubricate at
operating temperatures up to 177ºC with the appropriate relubrication
intervals. In addition, the products can handle short duration, periodic,
temperature spikes up to 246ºC. They are formulated with a blend of
high-viscosity base oils incorporating a modified bentonite inorganic
thickener that does not melt or lose its thickening ability at high
temperatures. This permits these greases to be used in applications where very
high, short-duration temperature spikes are part of normal operations. Norva
greases also exhibit excellent resistance to mechanical shearing. Unlike many
conventional soap-thickened greases, Norva greases are specially formulated to
retain their consistency even when heavily contaminated with water. Norva 2 is
an NLGI grade 2 grease and Norva 1 Moly is a grade 1 grease that includes 3%
molybdenum disulphide, which is particularly beneficial in the lubrication of
slow-moving, heavily loaded, parts.
The Exxon Norva family of
greases are used in tough industrial applications where the ability to
withstand high temperature environments is paramount and where possible water
contamination and slow speed / high load operation are additional concerns.
Features and Benefits
Norva greases are members of the Exxon brand of lubricating products
recognized for their high quality and reliability, as well as performance
capabilities. This family of products is manufactured to the strictest quality
standards. A key feature for this product family is its reputation for
reliability and consistency, and its ability to handle tough applications. Key
benefits to the Norva family of greases are:
- Manufactured under ExxonMobils stringent Product Quality Manangement System (PQMS)TM quality control standards
- Superb resistance to high temperature degradation, and very frequent re-lubrication
- Excellent mechanical shear stability ensuring stay-in-place performance and avoiding unplanned downtime
- Excellent resistance to water washing maintains grease performance even in severe aqueous environments
- In addition, Exxon Norva 1 Moly provides excellent lubrication and equipment protection under low-speed and high-load conditions
Applications
Application notes: Although the NORVA greases maintain their consistency at
high temperatures, frequent relubrication at such temperatures is usually
required to minimise the possibility of carbonisation of the base oil. The
appropriate lubrication frequency is best determined by experience.
NORVA 2 and NORVA 1 Moly are recommended for plain and anti-friction bearings
(e.g., kiln car wheel bearings, dryer conveyor chain bearings, rolling mills)
and sliding elements such as cams and ways. Specific applications include:
- Kiln car wheel bearings
- Dryer conveyer chain bearings
- Rolling mills
- Glass manufacture conveyer belt roller bearings
- Oven bearings
