Product Description

Exxon Beacon EP greases are premium quality general-purpose greases with anti-wear and extreme pressure properties. Beacon EP grades are formulated with paraffinic mineral oil base fluids, and thickened with lithium soap. Additives are present to control against rust and oxidation, and to provide protection against wear under loads common to general industrial service. Beacon EP greases have good mechanical stability and their consistency is maintained even after long periods of shearing, for example in a bearing. Beacon EP grades offer good water resistance, and excellent corrosion protection, even under severe conditions. Beacon EP greases can be used in a wide range of industrial, automotive and marine applications, where reliable protection against wear is required. Beacon EP grades can be used at temperatures from -20º C to +120º C.

Features and Benefits

Beacon EP family of greases is an important member of the Exxon brand of premium quality products that have gained a world-wide reputation for reliability under tough operating conditions. As with other Exxon brand greases, Beacon EP products are manufactured to the highest levels of quality and consistency. This grease family offers the following properties and performance features:

  • Manufactured under ExxonMobil's stringent Product Quality Manangement System (PQMS) quality control standards
  • Good water resistance and rust protection ensures proper lubrication even in water-contaminated operating conditions
  • Good oxidation stability and resistance to mechanical shearing for long grease life
  • Very good extreme-pressure and anti-wear performance provides reliable equipment protection

Applications

Beacon EP greases are general-purpose industrial and marine products used in a wide range of applications including:

  • Beacon EP 1 or Beacon EP 2 grades are recommended for use where the grease is distributed through a centralised lubrication system
  • Beacon EP 0 grease may be used where a grease of softer consistency is required
  • For non-critical systems, Beacon EP 2 is also suitable for ball and roller bearings of railway axle boxes where sliding under load occurs
  • Beacon EP greases may be used in marine applications for most sliding and rolling (anti-friction) bearings, including those in electric motors, pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, and other auxiliaries such as anchor windlasses, winches and steering gear units, and rudder bearings
