Product Description
TERESSTIC N EP combines the proven high-temperature performance of Exxon's long-established TERESSTIC N paper machine oil with the EP performance of a premium 60-lb Timken gear oil.
TERESSTIC N EP meets or exceeds the requirements of the major paper machine manufacturers in anti-wear and EP performance, oxidation and thermal stability, detergency, rust protection, demulsibility, and filterability. It also meets AGMA and USS 224 Gear Oil requirements.
With the combined properties of premium paper machine oil and an EP gear oil, TERESSTIC N EP can simplify lubricant inventories and minimize the possibility of lubricant misapplication.
Features and Benefits
The unique performance capabilities of TERESSTIC N EP have been impressively proven in demanding laboratory and field tests, including comparative testing against commercial paper machine oils and gear oils. TERESSTIC N EP meets or exceeds the requirements of the major paper machine manufacturers in antiwear and EP performance, oxidation and thermal stability, detergency, rust protection, demulsibility and filterability. It also meets AGMA and USS 224 Gear Oil requirements.
In addition to EP protection comparable to a high-quality gear oil, TERESSTIC N EP far exceeds conventional gear oils in resistance to oxidative and thermal breakdown, and passivity to catalytic copper. That means longer lubricant life and minimal tendency to form the acids, deposits, sludge and varnish that can accelerate wear and shorten equipment life.
The superb oxidative and thermal stability of TERESSTIC N EP is enhanced by potent detergent additives that help keep oil return lines and bearings grooves clean and free of the deposits that can shorten bearing life.

Applications
Modern paper machines are designed to run at ever-faster speeds and higher temperatures, and older machines are being run harder to maximize output. These increasingly severe operating conditions have placed unprecedented demands on the lubricants that protect this valuable equipment. Although most paper machine wet and dry ends can be satisfactorily lubricated with a single premium paper machine oil, it's often a different story in the press section, where heavy loads may require an oil with enhanced EP protection. Historically, these demands could be met only with two separate lubricants: A paper machine oil selected for excellent detergency and high-temperature stability, particularly at the extreme temperatures in the dryer section; and an EP gear oil designed to protect heavily loaded press section components, such as the extended nip presses, crown control roll hydraulic systems, and integral gear systems.
In recent years, the paper industry has expressed growing interest in the convenience of a single product that combined the best qualities of both types of lubricant. Such a product would permit cost-efficient consolidation of lubricant inventories and reduce the possibility of lubricant misapplication. But building a product with the necessary compatibility of EP and detergent chemistry would require breakthrough technology.
TERESSTIC N EP provides heavily loaded system components with a double benefit 60-lb Timken EP performance plus detergent and thermal properties significantly superior to those of conventional gear oils. If you use a separate gear oil to lubricate the press section, or if the equipment manufacturer recommends such use, you can use TERESSTIC N EP in such applications with complete confidence.

Health and Safety
Health studies have shown that many petroleum hydrocarbons pose potential human health risks that may vary from person to person. As a precaution, exposure to liquids and vapors of petroleum products should be minimized.
Oils and greases in contact with skin can result in removal of skin oils and plugging of sweat glands and hair follicles. This may lead to skin irritation or dermatitis. Accordingly, good personal hygiene should always be practiced. TERESSTIC N EP should always be removed from the skin promptly. Soiled clothing should not remain in contact with the skin.
Oils and greases are readily removed from the skin by waterless hand cleaners followed by washing with soap, water, and a soft skin brush. They can be removed from clothing by dry-cleaning or by washing with laundry detergents. Where repeated skin contact occurs, protective skin creams, such as silicone-base creams, applied to clean hands prior to contact may be beneficial.
If petroleum products contact the eyes, flush the eyes with fresh water until the irritation subsides.
WARNING: "Empty" containers retain residue (liquid and/or vapor) and can be dangerous. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose such containers to heat, flame, sparks, or other sources of ignition; they may explode and cause injury or death. Do not attempt to clean since residue is difficult to remove, and even a trace of remaining material constitutes an explosive hazard. "Empty" drums should be completely drained, properly bunged, and promptly returned to a drum reconditioner. All other containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with governmental regulations.
