Product Description

DISCONTINUED - For a product data sheet or replacement product information, please see the contact information at the bottom of this document.

CALORIA HT 43 has excellent oxidation stability and exceptional resistance to thermal decomposition. Its special thermal properties permit fast, efficient heat transfer. Its low volatility helps eliminate vapor lock in circulating pumps and reduces the possibility of cavitation, which is destructive to centrifugal pump blades. With a typical pour point of - 12°C (10°F), CALORIA HT 43 has good pumpability in cold weather startups. It is compatible with other petroleum heat transfer fluids.

Features and Benefits

When used as recommended, CALORIA HT 43 will provide the following benefits and advantages:

  • High Thermal Stability Performs well up to 600 F
  • High Heating Efficiency High specific heat and thermal conductivity help keep fuel costs down.
  • Excellent Oxidation Stability Minimizes sludge and acid formation and extends product life.
  • Low Temperature Performance Permits easy cold weather starting in temperatures down to a specification limit of 20 F
  • Low Volatility Reduces potential for pump cavitation.
  • Compatibility Compatible with other mineral oil heat transfer fluids.

Applications

  • CALORIA HT 43 is recommended for heat transfer systems typically found in:
  • Asphalt and coal tar storage, transport, and compounding
  • Dyes, chemicals and pharmaceuticals manufacture
  • Lumber drying
  • Paper and paperboard production
  • Petroleum products processing
  • Plywood laminating
  • Rubber and plastics molding, extrusion, curing, and calendering
  • Sheet metal laminating
  • Solar energy heat transfer and storage
  • Textiles (hot calendering)
  • Tiles, linoleum, and roofing products
  • Varnish and resins manufacture

Health and Safety

Oils and greases in contact with skin can result in plugging of sweat glands and hair follicles or defatting of the skin. This may lead to skin irritation or dermatitis. Accordingly, good personal hygiene should always be practiced. Oil, greases, and other foreign materials should be removed from the skin promptly. CALORIA HT 43 oil is readily removed from the skin by waterless hand cleaners, followed by washing with soap, warm water and a skin brush. Soiled clothing should not remain in contact with the skin. CALORIA HT 43 can be removed from clothing by dry cleaning with solvents or by washing with a laundry detergent. If CALORIA HT 43 comes in contact with the eyes, wash the eyes with fresh water until the irritation subsides.

WARNING: "Empty" containers retain residue (liquid and/or vapor) and can be dangerous. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind or expose such containers to heat, flame, sparks, or other sources of ignition; they may explode and cause injury or death. Do not attempt to clean since residue is difficult to remove, and even a trace of remaining material constitutes an explosive hazard. ":""Empty" drums should be completely drained, properly bunged and promptly returned to a drum reconditioner. All containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with governmental regulations.
