Product Description
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is a premium high-base-oil-viscosity grease designed for the heavy-duty applications often encountered in paper mills, construction, commercial vehicles, and mining environments. Designed with ExxonMobil's proven lithium complex thickener system, RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 provides the reliable, engineered shear-stability needed for off-highway applications operating under heavy-duty conditions. Formulated with outstanding water resistance and tackiness properties, RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 demonstrates excellent performance in wet and dirty environments.
Features and Benefits
Extreme-Pressure Performance
The wear protection provided by the high-viscosity base oil in RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is enhanced with special extreme-pressure (EP) and anti-wear (AW) additives. These additives, which act chemically to protect bearing surfaces at high loads, give RONEX XTRA DUTY MOLY 2 wide load-carrying capability - sufficient to meet the most demanding operating conditions. Whether the application requires low load protection, high load protection, or protection from fluctuating load conditions, RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is engineered to handle the job.
Extra Tackiness and Water Resistance
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 exhibits a high degree of tackiness and self-adhesion, which enhances the grease's ability to hold tenaciously to lubricated surfaces, and cling to bearing surfaces in severe water environments.
Rust and Corrosion Protection
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2, applied to rust-and corrosion-free surfaces, is specifically formulated to protect against rust and corrosion.
Excellent Shear Stability
Grease shear stability is a critical performance feature for the successful lubrication of bearings. RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 has outstanding shear stability, which translates to an ability to maintain consistency under shear, and provide lubrication:
Pumpability
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is pumpable down to -10ºC (14ºF). Below this temperature, grease with a lower base oil viscosity should be used. Use of a lower-viscosity-base-oil grease, however, will necessitate more frequent relubrication.
Good Compatibility with Other Greases
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is compatible with most competitive lithium-based greases. Two greases are considered compatible when the consistency (penetration value) of the product mixture is within the limits of the calculated average consistency. Other factors that are impossible to predict include, unexpected chemical interactions in the bearing from outside contamination and physical interactions from in-situ field products.
In summary, RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 offers the following benefits:
- Wide load carrying capacity
- High degree of tackiness and adhesion
- Rust and corrosion protection
- Outstanding shear stability
- Good pumpability
Applications
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2, a gray-black NLGI 2 grease containing 3% molybdenum disulfide, is particularly recommended for applications such as bucket pins and fifth wheels, where vibrating or oscillating movement can squeeze out the grease. In these cases, the 3% molybdenum disulfide affords an important measure of residual lubrication when the grease has been displaced.
RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is also effective in lubricating pins and swivels, where the sliding work action often requires a solid lubricant. Because these applications are often associated with wet environments, the excellent water resistance of RONEX EXTRA DUTY is another plus.
A difference in base oil viscosity gives RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 and RONEX MP greases distinctly different performance capabilities. With its higher base oil viscosity of ISO 460 (2500 SUS), RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is recommended for high load applications at slow-to-moderate speeds, including applications in the paper, construction, and mining industries, as well as off-highway vehicles operating at 35 mph or less. RONEX MP, with its much lower base oil viscosity of 767 SUS, is designed to meet a wider range of high-speed industrial and automotive bearing applications, including wheel bearings in on-highway use.

Health and Safety
Healthy skin condition depends on cleanliness. Oils and greases in contact with skin can result in plugging of sweat glands and hair follicles. This may lead to skin irritation or dermatitis. Accordingly, protective gloves, clothing and equipment should be worn and good personal hygiene should always be practiced. Oils, greases, and other foreign materials should be removed from the skin promptly. Soiled clothing should not remain in contact with the skin. RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 is readily removed from the skin by waterless hand cleaners followed by washing with soap, warm water, and a skin brush. It can be removed from clothing by dry-cleaning with solvents or by washing with laundry detergents. If RONEX EXTRA DUTY MOLY 2 comes in contact with the eyes, flush the eyes with fresh water until the irritation subsides.
As in the case of all greases, if there is a puncture wound with grease contamination, or an injury where grease is injected into body tissue, such as a "grease gun injury," prompt medical assistance should be obtained.
WARNING: "Empty" containers retain residue (liquid and/or vapor) and can be dangerous. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose such containers to heat, flame, sparks or other sources of ignition; they may explode and cause injury or death. Do not attempt to clean since residue is difficult to remove, and even a trace of remaining material constitutes an explosive hazard. "Empty" drums should be completely drained, properly bunged, and promptly returned to a drum reconditioner. All other containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with governmental regulations.
