Product Description
Exxon Epic EP greases are premium quality semi-synthetic oil based products.
Formulated with a combination of conventional low temperature mineral oil and
polyalphaolefin (PAO) synthetic base oil, Epic EP greases offer an extremely
wide operating temperature range, with excellent dispensability at low
temperatures. The combination of advanced lithium complex soap technology and
leading edge polymer enrichment technology, provides excellent adhesion,
mechanical stability and improved high temperature performance. Epic EP
greases give good protection against rusting and metal corrosion and also
provide excellent extreme pressure resistance and protection against wear,
even under severe shock loading conditions. Epic EP grades are excellent
all-weather greases, especially suited for use in centralised distribution
systems in applications such as construction and mining.
Epic EP Moly is a molybdenum disulfide-containing version of this grease, and
provides additional wear protection in high load and shock load applications.
Epic EP 102 and Epic EP Moly are recommended for use in centralized systems
and both are suitable for use in very cold climates, where many conventional
NLGI 1 Grade mineral oil based greases would be very difficult to pump. Epic
EP greases can be used at temperatures as low as -45º C.
Features, Advantages and Benefits
Epic EP greases are important members of the Exxon brand of premium quality
products that have gained a world-wide reputation for reliability under tough
operating conditions. Epic EP greases are made using an advanced lithium
complex soap thickener, a low temperature mineral oil and PAO synthetic base
fluid. As with other Exxon brand greases, Epic EP products are manufactured to
the highest levels of quality and consistency. Epic EP greases also contain
anti-oxidant and anti-corrosion additives. The special combination of lithium
complex soap thickener and selected polymer give the greases many useful
properties and performance features including:
- Superb low temperature performance and readily dispensable through centralized systems
- Excellent adhesion and mechanical stability for stay-in-place performance
- Very good high temperature performance for long service life and extended relubrication intervals
- Excellent anti-wear and EP performance including shock loads, for equipment protection and possible life extension
- Very good resistance to rust and corrosion also provides equipment protection and possible life extension
- Manufactured under ExxonMobil's stringent Product Quality Manangement System (PQMS) quality control standards
Applications
Epic EP greases are used year-round in a wide variety of sectors including
construction, mining and forestry. Specific applications include:
- Centralized distribution systems
- Bucket wheel hollow shaft anti-friction bearings
- Conveyor belt bearings
